WordPress has this great little script called Press This that allows you to post to your site directly from another site. It copies the page title and the link and opens a new post window (as long as you’re logged into your WordPress installation). This works great but to allow for the additional fields needed for a link post, you’ll need to take a few extra steps first.
- If you already have the Press This bookmark in your browser, make sure to delete that. This process will create a new one.
- Download, install, and activate this modified Press This Reloaded plugin package [updated 3/24/2015]. No configuration needed! If you’re unfamiliar with this process, just download the ZIP file from the previous link and follow the steps here to continue.
- In the WordPress admin, click Tools and you’ll see a “Press This” link. Follow the instructions to add this to your bookmark toolbar.
- Now, when you find a page you want to post to your site, click the “Press This” link to open a new post window. Alter the title if you’d like, copy and paste the link into the “Outbound link” field, add the other information if desired, and publish.
